We went to Sunday market and my uncle was so excited to show us this huge insect which are fried and can be eaten. I know, Y.U.C.K!

But my mom was so happy as there were so many pots and different kinds of flowers selling. She was so amazed to find baby pitcher plants as well. Even I was amazed as I always thought that they only can be seen at Mount Kinabalu. Ok now I know, I have zero IQ. I took a picture of it with my phone.

The Sunday Market was big, cramped and crowded. I felt quite stuffy while waiting forever for my mom and aunty. I bought a mini knitted sling bag for RM8. My mom bought some necklaces from a China lady. A pendant sold for Rm25 and my mom managed to get it for Rm12 only. The lady came after us and said, ” (after translated) Okla okla, give you la give you la.” I still remember my mom’s sneaky face trying to hold her victory laugh when she paid.

We spent almost two hours there, and we can’t find the huge fried insects that my uncle was so keen on showing us. So we left Mirage to Wisma Satok which was just across the street. Mom bought some clothes while I bought a stainless steel watch, for only RM60.

Kuching was really a place for tourist like me. The city is full of cats. But I don’t recall seeing any real ones on the street though. But for a cat-lover like myself, Cat Museum indeed is one of the best places to go!

It was the 2nd day when we visited the Cat Museum. Free entrance but with every camera you bring in, you will be charged differently according to the type of your camera. Including camera phones. I just paid for my normal camera and my relative sneaked in her digital camera. They don’t check your bags actually. I scanned the pictures I took so some of them look a bit blur here. There were so many cats in different forms and sizes, crystals, statues in different styles, paintings, Garfield, Hello Kitty and etc.

There were few galleries with different themes. Like western and eastern cats’ drawings. I love the eastern’s.

And then the famous chinese fortune cat.

Er, sweets?

London bridge is falling down… falling down… fallling down…

Farting cats.

Crystal cats.

Fishing cat. See? Even cat finds fishing is damn sien.

Porcelains?

And Doraemon is a cat too!

This is the Thailand version of Doraemon, I think.

You can find these in earrings in accessories shops at Riverbank Side.

This looks like a constipated Lazy.

These looked like something from The Mummy. Egyptian statues.

My mummy in orange and my aunty in pink. I think they have this love cats at Tmn Sahabat as well. But only one of them if I’m not wrong.

There are some in my camera phone but my laptop’s infrared is not working. Seriously a lot of pictures to take. They even have cats that appeared in stories and fairytales. One session for Garfield and a cupboard full of Hello Kitty’s products.

Like my aunty said, “You never come to Kuching if you never visit the Cat Museum.”

More pictures in part 2.

Because there is no direct flight from Tawau to Kuching and vice versa, we have to transit through Kota Kinabalu. And because something with Airasia and MAS do not want to share the same airport anymore, Airasia moved to this KK Terminal 2. It is still under renovation so it’s quite a mess there.

My uncle’s niece picked us up and she brought us to Kuching Waterfront. Pics are blur because I scanned them. I dont have a digital camera.

Everywhere also cats. Purposely one. Just because its Kuching.

Can tell that my mummy damn syok when she saw so many cheap necklaces.

Because we were super lucky, it was or still is the Kuching Festival! Uncle told me that they have it annually from around end of July till middle of August. First, we went to Waterfront again and waited at the opposite the Tuah Pek Kong temple to watch the Kuching Festival parade. It was very interesting and basically most of the participants dressed or make up like cats. There was this bodyfitness association (something along the lines) where men with glowing skin half naked standing behind the Fords showing their muscles. Then, there was this group of performers where they blew up fire from a long stick they each holding. It was fascinating until one of them kind of overdid it and almost choked himself. My mom found it so funny and laughed so loud that we caught some limelight there.

Then, we went to this Kuching Festival Fair held at their Dewan Masyarakat. It was huge and something like a smaller version of SS2 pasar malam. The only difference is this is all about food! So damn a lot of people. It was a Saturday therefore we couldn’t find seats so we just walked around, bought and ate our food along the way. It was so fun! There were doriyakis - doraemon’s favourite food, Uncle Bob’s chicken fillet, Taiwanese sausages and so many many many! But I will never forget the Ham Jin Beng I bought. It was so crispy and not ham(saulty) at all. It was sweet and there’s this red bean smell but with no red beans on it! Yummy yummy!

Ahhhhh… the ham jin bengs…

Basically, we left with fulled stomachs and went home happily and satisfied.

End of first day.
